Alan Thompson FRPS

My interest in photography can be traced back to my introduction to monochrome prints by my godfather who used to show me his 20x16 flush mounted prints when we went around for Sunday afternoon tea.. I was aged about 12 at the time. It was several years later that I bought my first camera and I started to take photographs. These were always in monochrome and my love of the medium has been with me ever since. My favourite subject is the landscape, and I most often photograph this during the winter months. I particularly enjoy photographing close to home as I have the ability to revisit frequently until the conditions are just right. I am at home either in the darkroom or the ‘lightroom’, and like the control that the computer gives me but prefer the look and feel of the silver print.
