SEAFORD HEAD 24th AUGUST
Afternoon
trip to the Coast, at Seaford Head in East Sussex. This event would offer the
opportunity to visit this little seaside gem, its Esplanade adorned with beach
huts, some fishing boats resting on the pebble beach, a short sea defence pier
with views over the dramatic cliff edge at Seaford Head West, with ruins of an
old defence fort perched at the top. Parking is along the Esplanade ( BN25 1JJ – before 18:00 there is a parking fee to pay at the machines). From the beach,
a short climb uphill past the Fort can take us cross the clifftop, past Seaford
Golf Course and a communications facility (that looks like an alien radar
device) up to Cuckmere Haven where we could enjoy amazing views of the Seven
Sisters Cliffs. However, this walk is 45 minutes so its up to each of us if
they want to do this hike (mostly flat terrain). . .and don't forget the Fish 'n Chips to finish the day.
Numbers of
members who wish to attend is open – based on recent experience in the Derby
Dales, a group of 8 is optimal. Car journey from Dorking to Seaford is 1hr
20 minutes along the A24 A23 and A26 with clear signs along the route. I
recommend setting off after lunch or even early afternoon in order to get some
of the warm light at dusk. Bogdan can pick up 3 other members in his car if interested. Please car share if possible - options are on the Booking Form.
Address is: 34 Esplanade,
Seaford, BN25 1JJ
